MIDDLE SCHOOL RED DEVILS ON THE FIELD

The younger Red Devils weren't able to lineup with Ardmore, September 11, due to projected weather that cancelled after school activities. However, they did travel to South Lincoln that Thursday. Elkmont came up short as the final horn sounded, losing 20-26.

Last night, the Red Devils were at East Limestone, matched up against the larger, heavier Indians.  Spots of brilliance were not enough for Elkmont to bring home a win.  East took the night, 13-8.

MIDDLE SCHOOL FINISHES SEASON

The Middle School Red Devils ran out of steam against the Highland Rim Hornets by a final score of 14-6 on Tuesday night.

Highland Rim scored its first touchdown on a pass up the middle with 37 seconds left in the first half.

Isaiah Sutherland's touchdown pass to tight end Josh Burrows in the third quarter was called back because of a penalty, and Highland Rim took its 8-0 lead into the fourth quarter.

Following an injury to Isaiah Sutherland, backup quarterback Rowe Allen threw a touchdown pass to Tyler Burge.

The Red Devils mustered a goal line stand with four minutes left in the game, keeping the Hornets out of the end zone on all four downs.

An untimely turnover sealed the Devils' fate, resulting in a final score of 14-6. Elkmont had carried a five game win streak into its final game and ended its season 5-3.

Assistant Coach's Corner
Proud of how hard are young men fought tonight. 5 games in 15 days is brutal, but they fought through and finished strong. 5-3, county Champs, and a wonderful group of young men. I'm proud to be their Coach, and even more proud of them. A great season, and I'm already missing not having practice tomorrow. How sweet it is. Go Big Red.

ELKMONT HEADED TO CHAMPIONSHIP

Elkmont jumped out to a 28-0 early lead and cruised to a 34-16 win over the West Limestone Wildcats.

With Ardmore's win over East Limestone, the Red Devils are slated to play the Tigers in the County Championship at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at East Limestone.

Nick Gibson found the end zone twice, joined by Paul Gooch and Blake Brown. Isaiah Sutherland rounded out Elkmont's scoring with a pick six.

Elkmont improved its record to 4-2 and hopes to avenge an early season loss to Ardmore on Saturday.

MIDDLE SCHOOL EDGES CORNERSVILLE FOR THE WIN

Elkmont Middle School survived a wild game in Cornersville, Tennessee.

Hunter Broadway returned a punt to the two yard line, setting up a Nick Gibson touchdown. This put the Red Devils on the score board first.

Cornerville added a touchdown of its own to tie the score, 8-8.

Later in the game, following a ferocious tackle by Josh Burrows and Paul Gooch, the Red Devils pinned the Bulldogs on their own one yard line for fourth down. The snap went over the punter's head and out of the end zone for a safety.

Cornersville moved the ball well in the fourth quarter. With the Bulldogs marching to the end zone, Westin Clinard's interception ended one drive.

Cornersville's final drive ended with a Tyler Burdge interception, resulting in Elkmont taking a knee for a final score of 10-8. Elkmont's defense continues to dominate.

In addition to interceptions by Clinard and Burdge, Jedidiah Sutherland also picked off a pass. Broadway and Burrows recovered fumbles at critical times. Elkmont improves their record to 3-2.

Appreciate our middle school cheerleaders.

RED DEVILS UPSET EAST LIMESTONE IN OVERTIME

A pick 6 put the Middle School Red Devils on the scoreboard first when Isaiah Sutherland returned an interception over 80 yards for the touchdown.

Tied 6-6 at halftime, neither team scored in the second half in a defensive battle.

East got the ball to start overtime, and the Elkmont defense kept them out of the end zone.

In Elkmont's first possession in overtime, Sutherland dumped the ball off to Nick Gibson who found his way to the end zone for a final score of 12-6.

Elkmont's defense was phenomenal, containing the Indians and securing the Red Devils' first victory of the season.

TWO TOUCHDOWNS CALLED BACK SINK RED DEVILS

Haunted by penalties, the Middle School Red Devils had two touchdowns called back in a 35-12 loss to Madison Academy.

Luke Claunch scored Elkmont's first touchdown on an 80 yard kickoff return.

Isaiah Sutherland added a pick 6 to top off Elkmont's scoring.

The Red Devils' next game is at West Limestone on September 28.

CLEMENTS BEAT ELKMONT MIDDLE SCHOOL

On September 21, Elkmont's Middle School team added freshman to its roster to take on the Clements Colts.  The Colts use a Jr. High team format which already consisted of seventh, eighth, and ninth graders so the Red Devils expanded it's roster as well. The hybrid squad looked good, considering tonight's game was the first time they had played together.

Elkmont's lone score came on a 47 yard run by Luke Claunch, with Drake Black adding the two point conversion. The Middle School Red Devils fell by a final score of 30-8. The Red Devils' next game is at Madison Academy on September 24, a game that was recently added to the schedule.

INDIANS SWEEP PAST RED DEVILS

The Middle School Red Devils aired it out against East Limestone on Monday, with quarterback Isaiah Sutherland completing several passes to open up some room for the running backs. Drake Black did not disappoint, scoring on a 65 yard TD run. Fullback Luke Claunch added another score on a long run. The Red Devils fell to the Indians, with the final score being 48-14.

ARDMORE WINS TWO

It was deja vu for the Elkmont Middle School Red Devils when, for the second week in a row, linebacker Luke Claunch stripped the running back of the ball and returned it for a touchdown. Claunch added another touchdown on the offensive side, bulldozing eighty yards down the field into the end zone.

Those were the only two scores for the Red Devils who fell to rival Ardmore by a final score of 32-12. Drake Black had some long runs and the Red Devils are doing a better job of moving the chains. Elkmont's defense improved throughout the game, holding the Tigers scoreless in the second half.

The Middle School Red Devils play again on September 14 at 5:30 pm at East Limestone.

The Ardmore JV shut the door of Elkmont's JV.  The Red Devils had a rough night and were held scoreless. Their next game will be after the Middle School game at East.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ACTION - ELKMONT VS S. LINCOLN

Luke Claunch stripped the ball from the South Lincoln running back and took it back 80 yards for a touchdown.  It was so impressive that it could have made an ESPN highlight video.

Unfortunately, that was the only time the Middle School Red Devils made it into the end zone, losing 28-6 to the South Lincoln Eagles.

Drake Black had an exciting run also, scampering 28 yards in the first half. The Red Devils play their next game at Ardmore, today at 5:30 pm.
