Skylar Gant, Elkmont: The Red Devil senior accounted for three Elkmont scores while rushing 10 times for 46 yards. He scored twice on the ground and caught a 23-yard pass from Hayden Huseth in their 27-20 win over West Limestone.
• Jevon Turner, East Limestone: Turner led the Indians offense with 16 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown. He scored on a 3-yard run in East Limestone’s 17-7 win over Madison County.
• Javon Thatch, Tanner: Thatch scored three different ways for the Rattlers in a 55-20 blowout against West End. He scored on a 21-yard touchdown pass from Landon Stephens, returned a punt 83 yards and ran a kickoff back 73 yards.
- After a frustrating four weeks, Ardmore put themselves in the win column Friday night, earning their first victory of the season. The Tigers used a strong running game, led by senior Gavin Calder. Calder rushed 41 times for 276 yards and accounted for all four Ardmore touchdowns. He scored on runs of 8, 4, 7 and 20 yards. For his performance, Calder has been selected as this week’s News Courier Player of the Week.
