Cole Glass had his breakout game of the season Friday night, and for the Elkmont High senior, it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Glass rushed five times for 101 yards and a touchdown in the Red Devils 38-13 shutout of Danville to help keep Elkmont’s bid for a spot in the postseason alive. He also had 35 yards receiving.
For his efforts, Glass has been selected as The News Courier’s Player of the Week.
Other notable performances from across the county last week include:
• Derek Teague, Athens: The Golden Eagle running back rushed 14 times for 160 yards and one touchdown in Athens’ 38-16 win over Lawrence County. He scored on a 32-yard run.
• Fredrick Rich, Tanner: Rich only carried the ball twice for the Rattlers, but took it to the end zone each time. He scored on 34- and 24-yard runs in Tanner’s 62-13 win over Cold Springs.
