ELKMONT CLIPS HAWKS' WINGS

Elkmont head coach Sean Holt’s message to his team this week was simple. “Let’s do what we do and do it well.” The team must have received the memo as they cruised to a 38-13 win over Danville.
“Our guys came out and executed the game plan.  It starts with the offensive line.  They played hard and kept us out of long yardage situations,” Holt said following the win.
Danville was first to find the end zone on a 1-yard run by Caleb Hill.  Elkmont answered with its own three-play 47-yard drive capped by Dan Logan’s 2-yard touchdown run. Jose Hernandez added the PAT for a 7-6 lead.  A 38-yard Cole Glass run earlier in the drive set up the touchdown.
Elkmont quarterback Hayden Huseth was responsible for the other two first quarter touchdowns as he scored on a 37-yard run and dropped a 45-yard pass into the hands of Bryant Wales for a 21-6 lead.
Senior Cole Glass added a 41-yard touchdown run to give the Red Devils a 28-6 halftime lead.
Elkmont maintained their momentum early in the third quarter when Cody Thomas recovered a fumbled punt return at the Danville 45-yard line.  Three plays later Huseth scored from 20 yards out to push the Elkmont lead to 35-6.
Jose Hernandez added a 27-yard field goal later in the third for the Red Devils final score. They played many reserves and young players the remainder of the game.
Danville added a 67-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth to cap the scoring at 38-13.
Elkmont rushed for 350 yards and had 441 total yards on the night.  Huseth led the Red Devils with 139 yards on 12 carries, including two touchdowns. He added 91 yards passing with a score.  Huseth’s cornerback play included an interception.
Cole Glass also had a big offensive night with 101 rushing yards and a touchdown, and 35 yards receiving.
Elkmont (4-3, 2-3) travels to Colbert County on Friday for a key region game.
